Day 3 – Tasmania
Day 3 – Tasmania
Last night I slept on the Spirit of Tasmania as we crossed Bass Straight and headed over to Tasmania. The ferry started rocking as soon as we left Port Phillip Bay and not long after, the waves started crashing into the bow with brute force! I fell asleep as the boat rocked from side to side in the 3 metre swells, and woke up at 5 am this morning in much calmer seas as we approached Devonport, Tasmania.
At 6.30 am, I drove off the boat and met up with the Camera crew, Clint and Maureen, who had already flown in yesterday. After having some breakfast and going over some last minute details, we headed off to our hotel in Hobart, the Wrest Point Casino, where we have scenic view of the Bay.
I heard a rumour that it snowed last night on Mount Wellington, a rarity in the Australian Springtime, even in Tasmania. So I drove up to take a look, and was delighted to see snow everywhere! It was pretty cold up there, with temperatures expected to drop to -1 C again tonight.
Tonight I’m going to relax a little, something I haven’t been able to do for ages now! Then tomorrow, I’ll meet my good friend Don Snyder III at the airport, and do some filming at some of the very many beautiful sights around Tasmania.
